Awesome idea, like FABLE for Xbox, or GTA:SA for Xbox. Fattening and slimming would add more uniqueness to characters allowing them to stand out for being pathetically skinny <Bones> and overly obese <Fatman Award>

I can see it now...

Sprint - For 8-13 seconds, you move 25% faster. If you collide with any creature while sprinting, that creature is knocked down and sprint ends.

More character customization is always good, but I'd have to agree there are more important things to get done at the moment.

Stop being so self conscious. No one over teh internat gives a crap what you look like. And how, exactly, did you pull what you said out of:

the devs probablyhav enothing better to do that make variations of every armor in the game so it can be worn by fat people.

im pretty sure that's all muscle. at least it's meant to be.
it's also true i would hope the great heroes of the gw world are in peak physical condition, little thom not withstanding...
Why do you need different armour if you're fatter or slimmer

You don't, Sym. You just need to stretch or compact the current armor graphics depending on size, which most people think means a whole new set of graphical looks...if you're skinny, make it cling, if your fat, make it look like your poppin buttons'

Default Customizability all the way!

More options, yes!

First off, customizability is what brings more people to a single game without that game getting boring. Like someone else said: Drones. As we see it now, GW is a little to similar across players. Everyone is pretty much a warrior or monk, most of them with the same Drok's or 15k armor. There is very little variation in the way players look.

To counteract the physical appearance similarities, I suggest a more customizable appearance, not just in weight, but features as well. Eye color, nose shape, etc. All males and all females basically look the same in body shape. A player should be able to (like you guys were saying) adjust the fat/muscle ratio of their char.

As for the armor situation, it's pretty easy to stretch a texture over a larger model surface, so all existing armors shouldn't be a problem. I suggest though, breaking weapons and armor down, in a separate window, to their component parts. A player could design their own weapons and armor with their own preferred resistances and bonuses. This would eliminate the endless similarities in armor choices. This would also provide players with greater ability to sell or trade unwanted or otherwise useless items.

Next in customizability should be guild representations. As of now, who the heck can tell one guild cape from another? "Not I," said the pig. Guild capes are just not distinct enough. Most people can easily recognise a common emblem though, so maybe a focus on emblems. The problem is that too many guilds use the same emblem. More customization in the emblem itself would help. Combinable emblem parts would be good. Instead of a rose crossing a sword, make each individually selectable and combinable; just drag and drop. Give rotate and mirror options too. Allow some customizability within guilds too. Allow members to wear cape or cloak, and also to place emblems on items, such as a shield, on a blade hilt, or as a shoulder emblem, or on their chest armor.

Now for the hard one: Mounts. No mounts in GW yet, but I'm hoping. Having mounts in GW would be a major paradigm shift, but it's essential for realism. It goes with the story too (humans take everything, why not enslave animals to carry them?). In order to make mounts worthwhile, town warp has to be removed. If you want to go somewhere, YOU have to travel there. YOU. Not somebody else (no more running), but you yourself. But if the game was meant to be run through, it'd be called Runner Wars or Guild Runners. Mounts would increase traveling speed, but would slightly change combat. Depending on the creature (a big bear for example), there could be some attack skills, but for those with stronger attacks (again the bear), it would override the character's ability to simultaneously attack. What I mean is, that while riding a horse, the horse could charge an enemy and the warrior atop it could simultaneously slash with his sword, but the ranger on the back of a bear could not attack while the bear is tearing the enemy apart with its claws (would be physically difficult to do anyway IRL).

A facet of mounts, I suggest flying mounts. There could be 4 choices (feel free to add if you have some good ones). Griffons, Phoenix, Dragon and Gargoyle (2 feathers and 2 leathers). Each could have their own strengths and weaknesses (dragon for example would have better fire resistance).

Mounts could be purchasable in towns, or findable (though rare) in the wilderness. A flying mount would be the most rare, and would not be purchasable to maintain their rarity and prestige. The griffon and gargoyle could also function as land mounts (dragon is too big and phoenix is unpractical - it's a bird). The skies would be best made collective in certain areas (close to and over towns). But so there would be no kill stealing, the first to begin attacking an enemy would be assigned that enemy and kill.

That's all I've got, so bring on the responses.

I think it should be like the Warp John Kerry or George W Bush. Stretch out that arse....stretch out those melons.....But still...this is NOT important. IT WILL NOT change the game. NO one NORMAL will CARE.

If town ports are to be removed to make room for mounts, then I will do without mounts. The good thing about GW is I can just message my guildies, and meet at a given place immediately.. not having to wait like 2 hours and kill countless mobs on the wayside just to get to that other town.

You are probably thinking about WoW.

As for character customisation.. seriously it is quite freaky, every ele in town looks EXACTLY the same except for size and whatever above the shoulders. 1981 anyone?

Err... I agree with generik... if mounts mean getting rid of town warps, then I'd much rather avoid mounts. The reason? Guild Wars is supposed to be a game in which time investment is not an issue. Forcing people to physically run across the world to get somewhere makes time investment an issue. It is mindless grind, and it doesn't belong in a competitive online action game.

Mounts do provide nice customizability, however, and might be nice, should Anet decide to implement some system of mounted combat. Who knows.

...And back to the subject of fat/slim... I think it's a great idea, provided you don't extend the models to the extremes. Don't want people sueing Anet when their kids are inspired by the anorexic characters they play. Still though, it'll be nice to customize characters a bit, though I agree, it's hardly necessary. More customization adds to the sense of ownership someone has, as well as making the world more interesting.

Perhaps Belly Smash will do more damage the more you weigh? =D
